WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

The body is the repository of all physical, mental and emotional tensions. We generally wear our tensions instead of feeling them. This shows up for example in posture, chronic pain and tension, poor sleep, digestive problems and heightened stress levels. Yoga therapy is designed to locate and release these tensions, creating an environment for the body to optimally heal itself physically or emotionally.


It intentionally applies the tools of yoga (poses, breathing, meditation and more) and is facilitated with specially designed verbal coaching alongside the pose/asana or movement. A longer time may be spent in some poses using props for support. In person sessions use hands on assistance where appropriate and only by choice.


A yoga therapy private session or class is a very nurturing and compassionate experience and doesn't require you to have a certain level of flexibility or fitness to begin. Many of us have been conditioned to either plow through our boundaries or rarely go near them in self protection. This teaches us to listen to intuition and maintain physical and emotional boundaries. It guides you to trust, attune and attend to your inner signals and body wisdom. It allows your innerwork to be done in your own unique timing and readiness ensuring a safe and effective practice.

Private sessions are tailored to the individual and include:

  • Initial chat to discuss psycho-emotional-physical health, intentions and personal requirements

  • Co-created session or program plan

  • Tailored yoga therapy facilitation

  • Integration with (optional) sound bath

  • Verbal processing (as required)

  • Home practice recommendations

  • After care recommendations and check in

Online private sessions are available one-on-one.
